Hello all,

I felt that I would like to share my thoughts on Tiff's blog,

1) I think people on't write in here as often b/c some are busy, but I think other just don't feel like they have anything to talk about. I think that they do read the blog and enjoy reading it, they just don't know what to say or what to write about. (for all of you who fall into that category, just write what's on your mind, regardless of how mindless you think it may be)

2) also I think that people sometimes don't post comments b/c either 1) they don't know how to send a reply 2) they'd rather send a whole blog responding to it (like I am)

3) I do not know why you are so self-conscious.. maybe the more you write the more you analyze yourself and critique everything you say and do... that usually makes me people more self- conscious, I like to think of it as more of a self-awareness.

4) I think you could have a bbq for your b day. If you want in davis have it there... don't plan it around people, plan it around your day.. it is your b-day (just ask when people are available)

5) June did go by pretty quickly.. however my job still sucks

6) what's eveyone doin july 4th..??? I was thinking eveyone could come to my place (since I haven't had a housewarming) and watch fireworks on the 4th. I believe they have fireworks over the bay..... anyone down to come down or across the bridge for that matter????

7) I think I will stop writing for now...

hope to hear from you all sooon

(Not so) Deep Thoughts

Thursday, June 27, 2002
4:35 PM
UCD Computer Lab

Questions:
1) How come people don’t write in here as often anymore? Is it that eveyone’s just busy? Has the appeal of this worn itself away? Is this, like so 5 minutes ago?
2) How come people don’t post comments on other people’s entries? I’ve always got a comment on what someone else says. Is it just me?
3) I still wonder what people think when they read my blogs. Do I even make any sense? Do I sound as retarded as I think I sound?
4) Why am I always so self-conscious?
5) How come I can never get into baseball? I’ve tried. But nothing, I just feel nothing.
6) Hmmm….who should I ask to watch an MLS game with me? Who should I ask to go to Warped Tour with me? How come I don’t know anyone else who listens to punk music?
7) Should I have a BBQ for my birthday? If I do, then I’d want to have it in Davis. But we all remember what happened the last time I had a BBQ in Davis. Do I really want to put myself through that again?
8) Where the hell did the month of June go?
9) Geez, how long have I been sitting in this computer lab?

Randomness:
-The best thing I read today: "The Clean Sheet," an article on MLSnet.com. It’s basically just some dude giving his thoughts on the world of soccer. He and the soccer writer for ESPNmag.com are some of the best, most entertaining writers I’ve come across lately. I give props to anyone with good writing abilities (that includes the always witty Regan, Ed, and sometimes Jeff). Anyway, here’s the most interesting little tidbit I found:
"For sports marketing geeks who follow this kinda thing, it’s dancing Cantona vs. Footballitis in the World Cup final as Brazil (Nike) faces Germany (adidas). Both companies had the chance at a dream final with both teams in their kit, but instead each company will have one in the final and one in the third-place game with Turkey (adidas) against Korea Team Fighting (Nike)." I don't know about you, but I found that to be quite interesting. Nike might have the upper hand on this one. But again, you never know.
-Thoughts on the NBA Draft last night: That was some boring ass shit. Next time, I’m just not gonna bother watching and read who went where on ESPN.com or something.

Last Night’s Discovery:
-I think my left eye is smaller than my right eye. In the recent pictures I’ve seen of myself, I noticed a slight difference in size. I think it’s from the time I got hit in the eye with the lacrosse ball last year. Damn you Lila (my teammate that hit me). Or maybe I have a lazy eye and never realized it. Or maybe I got a lazy eye from getting hit in the eye (is that possible?)

Playing by Numbers:
+5: days until my birthday
-11: days since I graduated
+1: month until the Tahoe Lacrosse Tournament
-50: how much I owe on my credit card
+10: people left in the computer lab
+3: hours I’ve been in this computer lab

Yes, I think it's time to go too.

Yes!! I finally got this picture thing to work. It's about time. Dang this turned out to be kinda big. Oops. Sorry Regan, I couldn't get that pic of Donovan shirtless from the SI for Women magazine to work.

12:38AM
Davis

Damn, we hit the high 90s today up here. At 9AM this morning, I was already sweating as I got ready for class. Then biked from shade to shade to avoid getting heat stroke. I got a mild case of heat stroke my freshman year before a lacrosse game. We were going through warmups before the game and there was no shade to be found and the sun was beating down hard on us. I pushed myself too much and almost passed out. Not fun. So be careful in the sun, kids. The weather people say tt's only gonna get worse and head up towards the 100s in the next few days. Fan-friggin-tastic. Summer in Davis is kinda weird. This town keels over when all the students leave. But then it's invaded by all these high school kids. Right now all the volleyball girls are out here, with their short ass biker shorts and knee pads, for some big tournament Davis hosts every summer. When they leave, in come the cheerleaders, with their curly haired ponytails and glitter, for cheer camp. Oh dear.

**Sole soccer thought of the night:**
I like the little chant song thingy that the Korean fans sing during the games. It's very uplifting. Too bad they got the boot. Damn Germans. You know how Seinfeld always sneered when he said "Newman." That's what I kept doing when the German goalie kept making a save. With fists clenched, I sneered, "Kahn, you bastard."

**Let's change gears and get into some music**
1-That Amerie song "Why Don't We Fall In Love" is tight. Same goes for N.O.R.E.'s latest. Good beats, good times.
2-That Avril girl's song "Complicated" is catchy, but the video sucks. She looks too innocent-teeny bopperish to be looking like she came off a sum41 video shoot. The video doesn't go with the song at all. I hate when artists do that.
3-I went into Borders yesterday just to browse around and ended up spending two hours in there. I came in thinking Ashanti's cd would be good, Pink's would suck. After almost an hour at the listening station, I walked out the store disappointed in Ashanti's debut (the only good songs being the three singles on the radio now) and annoyingly impressed by Pink's efforts. I couldn't believe how many decent tracks there were on Pink's cd. But I refuse to buy it because she annoys the shit outta me. So if anyone's got it, can I burn it off ya?
4-After Borders, I mozied on over to the used cd store in town and walked out with two new cds for my collection. Hey Regan, I followed your advice that you gave me a way way long time ago (you probably don't remember) when I asked your suggestions on some decent underground hip hop groups. People Under the Stairs' disc Question in the Form of an Answer popped out at me and I remembered you had mentioned them and so had my cousin. So I popped it in the cd player at the store to check it out and got sucked in immediately. Went through all 22 tracks. The other cd I walked out with: Jurassic 5's Quality Control. Needless to say, I was very happy with my selections when I walked out the door and still am. Money well spent. Hey Regan, you'd be surprised at the hip hop selection they've got out here in Davis. You wouldn't think they'd have much, but it's quite impressive.

Don't forget to check out MTV's new show "Sorority Life," that's based here in little ol' Davis. It's some funny shit. I could care less about the sorority. I just like seeing them go around town and watching to see if anyone I know was caught on camera. I still don't understand how the Greek system and rushing and all that crap works. How much would you guys have paid me to just go rush for the hell of it and pretend I'm Jewish, just to get on camera? Damn it, why do all the brilliant ideas hit me late.

hasta luego,
~tafty

i guess i'm the lucky one to follow regan's infamous blogs...just to let you know, reg, the rest of us are pretty damn jealous of your writing stylz. mucho props to THE MAN!
my condolences to all the people who have run into some bad luck recently: keep ya heads up but don't stand next to me...bad luck is contagious you know! j/p...hope everything gets better for all of you as the week goes on.
have any of you guys and gals gone to the Bubble lounge...it is way fun! a little too cheeky cheeky for my taste but it has a great atmosphere. its a champagn bar but you can get regualar alcoholic and nonalcoholic drinks as well. needless to say, i got tipsy after a half glass of champagne and someone had to finish it for me. seriously, i need to work on my tolerance. after the bubble lounge, we went to 550. the last time i went to 550 it was cool b/c they played hip-hop and stuff... but on saturday it was ORGY nite. not fun. they played dance/techno/jungle/crap all freakin nite. if you wanted hip-hop, you had to go OUTSIDE to dance. so i ended up dancing outside with a bunch of cigarette and weed smokers...quite interesting...i think i got high off of second hand. first time for everything!
to jefe: thanks for coming out to play some football (real football not soccer). it was fun right? thanks for your relentless defense...we shut them out 38-0! woohoo!
that's all from me!

ITS A CRAZY LIL WORLD, ITS A
BLOGGY BLOG WORLD

Guess who's back, back again...the
Reganator...after a brief hiatus I'm back, with a few more stories to
divulge...while we're on the theme of car accidents, I felt left out and decided
to get into one also!  A hit and run seemed plain (sorry Michelle), old
ladies are too boring (ditto Phil)...so  a nice black SL500 Mercedes
convertible seemed like a good target...remember fellas, this is LA...I most
likely hit a freakin' leased car anyways...so here's the reenactment:  I'm
driving with V-maysta southbound through a yellow, but this northbound prick
(ooh fightin' words) thinks he can beat me and makes a left, so I try to veer
left to avoid his car but unfortunately my front right side hits his rear right
tail...good thing my Escalade was in the shop, because Sen-Dog (my car, not the
Cypress Hill rapper) got into a lil accident...you think people with nice cars
would know have to drive them and yield...geeeeeez...then he has the audacity to
say that I ran a red....straight bananas...stay tuned for the latest on the case
involving Reegsta the Damaja V. the Englishman who can't drive...

On a happier note, I had my second brush
with fame in a week...while shopping for shoes (what else?) at the Beverly
Center, I came across Vince Carter of the Toronto Raptors and Lil Bow Wow of the
wack prepubescent rapper genre at Champs Sports...didn't really chop it up with
them, but saw and observed them...blinded by all the ice they were rockin...this
is LA, and I guess its normal to see larger than life figures (true for Vince,
since he's like double my size, but a misnomer for LBW, since he's like half my
size)...not sure if I told you that I saw that "Crazy" guy who
"Don't Wanna Miss a Thing" because his girl "Janie's Gotta
Gun," which in turn got him "Jaded" and forced him to "Walk
this Way"...yes, I saw Liv Tyler's daddy, Steven Tyler, at Wood Ranch BBQ
and the mall across the street from my place...dude looked strung out, but I
guess they all do...I repeat, this is LA...

And a Regan-related rambling isn't
complete without a few words about sports...(1)  the world cup...did not
watch a minute of it...didn't know futbol could affect americans the way it
did...I don't know about up there, but it seemed like I saw a freakin Mexican,
South Korean, American, or Laker flag on everyone's car down here...the futbol
seemed to link everyone together, but I'd still rather watch women's golf, even
if they're fat...btw, Landon Donovan (who is way younger than you Mrs. Tiffany
Robinson) is featured in the current SI for Women as part of the Sexiest
Athletes feature (told you I'll read anything)...but the thing I found baffling
was how did Mike Dunleavy Jr get more votes than TIGER WOODS?!?!...thats not
just bananas, that's banana splits...Ohno was #1 for you curious kind...(2) 2002
draft...a select few of you will now have received an invitation to play in a
game where you can decide the picks of the draft...this is RSVP VIP only!
If you'd like to receive one, please email me ASAP...note to Warriors: choose
GOD and avoid the blue DEVILS...climbing: Jared Jeffries, fallin: Qyntel
Woods...baller status: Juan Dixon...star: CARON BUTLER...(3)  2002 US
Open:  Congratulations Tiger...a lil late, please forgive me...

'Til I type again...all comments
appreciated =)

nick's notes....

hey tiff, so when are u gonna get your lisence??? and for lessons, maybe u should have michelle teach u how to drive - that way maybe some of her driving karma will rub off on u. oh yeah, and congrats on graduating from davis.

phil- thanks for taking me to the giants game at beautiful pac bell park, and i got u scheduled to go to the A's game on the 5th for some baseball and a fireworks show.
anyone else who wants to see the pyrospectacular just lemme know sometime this week so i can buy u tickets when i go to buy them. and if u go, u'll get to watch the best team in baseball, the Oakland A's (as they've just finished treating the mariners' ace like a piƱata - to make this they're 16th win out of 17).

also, just wondering if anyone's interested in watching any of the san francisco bay area pro-am games at kezar....b/c the prices are pretty good, i'll even pay for anyone who wants to go.

another thing, who'd be interested in exercising some during the after work hours. so far jeff (i think) and i plan to go running, most likely around lake merced, and so if anyone wants to join us - that'd be nice....and it might help to motivate us to keep up the exercising when there's more people going.

Davis

Don't worry, no long ass blog from me solely about soccer. But before I do get into other stuff, I just have to address a couple soccer-related items:

-to Phil: Hell yeah I will still be watching the World Cup. Hello, South Korea's kickin ass and they're still in it. They got Germany tonight, or I mean tomorrow morning at 4:30AM. I'm there. Plus, I still got the MLS to watch. I'll take that over baseball any day. Plus there's the NBA draft quickly approaching, which I'm mostly only watching to keep track of Williams and Dunleavy. So there is life after US World Cup soccer.
-South Korea and Turkey in the finals, think it could happen? At this point anything's possible. I'm kinda rooting against Brazil just because of all the injury faking and ridiculous 5-year old shit they pull on the field. Damn it Senegal, why'd you have to lose Turkey, I was rootin for ya.
-Donovan is hard core. No rest time for him. He flew straight back to San Jose after the Germany game to make it to his Saturday MLS game with the Quakes (anyone wanna go to a game?). He got to the field an hour before kick-off and played the last 5 or 10 minutes or so. Damn. Now that's dedication to a team.

Now that I got that out of my system, I have to get something else off my chest:
-With all these stories about people getting into car accidents and all, you wonder why I'm still hesitant to get my license. Please, I beg of you, please stop asking me about the license. Normally, I just wouldn't care about getting teased about it, but with everyone, and I literally mean everyone pestering me about it these last two weeks, I've reached my breaking point. And I know you all must be going, "well if you just get your license already we'd stop bugging you." Well I'm doing what I can and trust me, the minute I get it, I will personally call each and every one of you. Even if I do get it, I already know the jokes won't stop because it'll go from, "when are you gonna get your license" to "dang you finally got your license tiff, it's about time" and I'll be hearing that over and over again. So please, I beg of you. Let me be. And I'm sorry to sound all bitter, really I am. But when you hear the same joke literally every single day by every person you come into contact with, you get to a breaking point, which I was just pushed over. Even before some people congratulated me on graduating, they teased about the license. And I was kinda hurt by that. I'm just being straight with everyone, that's all.

I need to get all this frustration out of my system. Think I'll go throw against the lacrosse wall and then go for a quick run. Lord knows I need to run after all the food I ate this past week.

signing off,
~Taft
Ok.. all so I haven't written here in awhile... I have actually been going out more; hence the less time for me to be on this computer... some thoughts from previous blogs

- Michelle, sorry to hear about your accident.. you need to get that stuff checked... also, you should carry a camera, pad, and pen with you at all time in the car if someone tries to drive away. that way you can take a picture... also.. have you gone back to that street where you got hit..?? you said you saw the car backing out of a driveway... couldn't you just go back to that house????

- Lamster- thanks again for coming with me to watch spiderman.. that was definitely one interesting movie... I don't know if I would pick Kirsten Dunst to be casted as MJ but I guess she's alright... I'd pick someone like the girl from small ville or somethin... at least someone prettier...or really funny... like reese witherspoon... she'd be a riot...

- Nick - thanks for coming so short-notice to the giants game.. I swear we were out own commentaries for the game.. I bet everyone around us hated us talking throughout the game.. but who cares... we shall do it again.. by the way put me down for the july 5th game.... (reply back to this so I know you got it)

- Tiff B... what are you going to do without US world cup? are you still going to watch it? what are you going to do now... I have a thought maybe get your well delayed- driver's license? heheheeheh

- Sylv, thanks for coming with me to get Mamma mia tickets in the straight ghetto.. at least I did not have to pay for service charge..... for any of you who don't know..some of us are seeing mamma mia on the 23rd... of July that is... come out and watch it if you can!!! I heard it supposed to be the bomb...

and to add to Michelle and Sylv's misforturne, I got rear-ended on Friday on the way back from My store visit... damn old 60+ year old lady hit her accelerator at a red light.. b/c the left turn light turned green... dumb ass senile woman... then she started talking about her car being all scratched... well DUH if you weren't so stupid you wouldn't have those stratches.. luckily my car has a big bumper (and was taller than her dodge interpid) and that I only dislodged the mud guard on my car.. I went through insurance to get it fixed and to make her pay.. I hate damn drivers... sucks that my manager was in the car (for those of you who don't know my manager got in 2 (YES 2) ACCIDENTS the previous friday on the way to and from the store visit... I swear store visits have become dangerous....

Ok I think that's enough for me talking, I shall end with some random thoughts

- anyone wonder how they decided second base and shortstop.. couldn't those have been interchanged?
- why is it that when you look at someone in the car next to you on the road, they have tendency to look right back at you... (especially truck drivers)
- does christine, steph, anup, val c, val r, and alan read this????
- what's everyone doing July 4?
- how come Ariel knows Cecile from Bachelorettes in Alaska and never told me until today...

hope to hear from you all soon!!!!

and i thought today was starting out to be such a good day ...
tshhh ... WHATEVER!!!
Okay, why did I just get off work ... let's see clocked out at ummm about 07:28am after working about 19 hours. I'm all excited to head home and go to sleep for a few hours before I have to get up again to be at work by 2:45pm again. So I'm about 2 long [sunset district] blocks from my house when all of a sudden ... BOOM! i get hit by a car coming out of a driveway straight into the side of my car. Uggghhhhh!!!!! But wait, better yet, the car doesn't even stop ... he just keeps on driving. =( I don't get the license, only the color and a vague description of the car. So all irritated I try to follow the car, but i have to stop at a red light. How sucky! I know there's a freeway entrance not too far from where this car is headed. Keep going after the light changes while I'm calling 911 whose telling me to stop following the car . So i eventuallly stop, with the stupid car no where in sight because my car's doing a wobbly-wobbly thing. Pull over to look at my car with the front all jacked and LEAKING something! aGGGGGhhhhhhhh!!!!! so nothing left to do but talk to the police get the car towed get a ride home. *sigh!* so now that's all done but now my back and for some reason my knee are hurting. i can't believe i have to be at work at 3pm today. i want to go to the emergency room but i have no ride and i'm thinking maybe i should just wait until right before work to go. so anyway they didn't find the car right away so my guess is they're not going to find it EVER! aGhhhh vent VenT VENT!!! just wanted to share my lil story! hope you're all enjoying your weekend. I miss you guys! Love you lots! Michelle

It was the blue jerseys, I tell ya.

Friday, June 21, 2002
12:49PM
Sitting on my ass in South City

A big standing ovation to our U.S. men's national squad, won't you all join me. Well the historic run is over and our boys are heading home. 1-0, but it certainly didn't feel like that. Let's just keep our fingers crossed that Landon Donovan will be returning to the Bay Area beyond the end of this MLS season (supposedly he may be heading back to the German club he's still under contract with, but let's just hope that's a nasty rumor). I'm sad they lost, but it was obvious they played with everything they had and gave the Germans a run for their money. Major props to German goalie Kahn for pulling a Friedel and stepping it up big in the net. And Tony Sanneh! Man oh man he was all over the place. Claudio Reyna's defense in the final minutes was inspiring; he came up big in these last two games and showed us why he's captain. The Cup's still far from over. Let's root for our buddies, the Koreans (what a fabulous win they had against Italy) as they try to extend their Cinderella run. Go Red Devils!

Taft's U.S. All-Star Team
1- Landon Donovan, for being the 20-year old phenom with the skills and the perfect poster boy for U.S. soccer. Thank you for taking your shirt off in the Mexico game. :-)
2- Tony Sanneh, for showing the world how to play some bad ass defense and for hustling all 120 yards of the field all Cup long.
3- Claudio Reyna, el capitan, for standing your ground against the big bad Germans
4- Brad Friedel, for being the human wall. And for having such a cool, smooth accent.
5- Bruce Arena, for doing your own thing and constructing the most successful U.S. national team the world's ever seen. I tip my coaching hat off to you.

Other random soccer notes:
-Did you know Coach Arena was a former All-America lacrosse player?? Ha!
-Pablo Mastroeni looks very much like the lead singer of P.O.D.
-Karma's a bitch ain't it? O'Brien's no-call hand ball from the Mexico game came back and just smacked us in the face.
-If you don't get my title above, refer to my previous blog. There's something about those magical white jerseys, I'm telling ya.
-When this Cup's over, what the hell am I gonna watch? Baseball? I think not.

Until next time,
~Taft

Landon Donovan, will you marry me?

Tuesday, June 18, 2002
2:08AM
South San Francisco

Holy cow we're in the quarterfinals against Germany!! How did we get...? What the..? We're not supposed to be here, but we are. And what a damn great place it is to be. But first off, I would like to apologize to the US team for expressing my doubts in your abilites in my previous blog. But cmon, honestly how could I not have been concerned after that poor showing against Poland. But I am back in the right mindset now and it will never ever happen again. There is no question, you WILL beat Germany. As Coach Bombay and the Mighty Ducks once said, "USA!! All the way!!"

Holy cow, a shutout against Mexico, who would have thought it. Not me, especially after seeing Arena's starting 11. Was I the only going, "Where are Mathis and Beasley?" at the start of the game? But kudos to Arena for his brilliant coaching tactics. It only means that Beasley and Mathis will be even more resfreshed and ready to go against Germany, along with Hejduk. Mexico had possession of the ball for most of the game, yet once again the US did a fine job of making the most of limited opportunities, just as they'd been doing all Cup long.

Holy cow Landon Donovan. I still can't believe the talent behind this kid. If anyone's gonna get this country excited about football (let's catch up with the rest of the world and start calling this sport by its proper name folks), it's 20-year old Donovan. 2 goals in his first World Cup (or 2 and 1/2, if you count that one against Portugal. or make that 3 and 1/2 if you count the goal taken away against Poland). Not too shabby. That beautiful header in the 2nd half sealed the US's spot in the quarterfinals. The marriage proposal still stands.

People, all I have to say is set your alarm clocks for 4:30AM on Friday morning and DO NOT MISS THIS GAME! So go to bed extra early Thursday night and rise and shine for US soccer's most important game in history. I know Ed, Nick and I will be up, so if we have to, you WILL be receiving an early morning wake up call from one of us, yelling GOOOAALLLL in your ear when the US scores.

your #1 US football fan,
~Laffy Tafty

p.s. A big hug and thanks to all of you who made it to my dinner. It was so wonderful seeing you guys again. And of course, I have to pinpoint Phil out and thank him for driving all the way up to Davis for my graduation. What a pal. :-)
p.p.s. Last soccer note (of the night that is): I hope the US wears their white jerseys on Friday. Anyone else notice that every time they wear white, they play fantastic and either win or tie? Or it could just be me and my own superstitions about uniforms.

is anybody awake yet?
good morning all! how was everybody's weekend? i'm sure it was all funfilled since i saw most of you!
since i have no commentary on the world cup...this blog will be fairly short. it seems that everyone that is posting has some comment on the cup....well, i'm not jumping on that bandwagan. haven't watched a game yet but i've made several fake attempts to watch it. we'll see if i can contribute to this topic after i finally watch a game.
as i'm sure most of you know, our TIFF B and DAN have graduated from Davis. Congratulations to you both! nick, ed and i went to celebrate with dan and it was fun hanging out...buying toilet paper at Safeway and almost peeing in my pants, watching some soccer and drinking, not me, but everyone else and then, the boys let us watch ESPN. now that was really fun. us girls had a grand ole time watching sportscenter. for reals though, it was fun just kicking it with dan and his friends. pretty chill. but i will never ever...drive from davis back to the city at 3:00 in the freaking morning! true i had nick and ed to entertain me but i still won't ever do that again. even if jefe dances around in a provocative way...i will never do that again.
for all who missed tiff's ube cake...you missed out! it was damn good! sorry i came late but i'm glad that i made it just in time for the yummy cake. Congrats again, tiff b.
that's all folks!
tiff lam
nick's notes:

did u see that game which just ended? it was quite a stunner, as the US soccer team was able to defeat the Mexican team 2 - nil. and so that means that the US team will now advance further than they have ever before in the world cup, as they're next game will be against germany in the quarter finals. and if u haven't seen any of these world cup matches, then i'd have to say u've been missing out - and it's about time u jump on the band wagon as the US team is still alive.

phil- regarding those random thoughts of yours...."Giants and A's - who's the better team?"....that's a no brainer, i can answer that w/o putting any thought into it at all - b/c the A's are certainly the superior team, as they demonstrated this weekend going into sf and winning the series against the giants. and for anyone interested; who wants to go see an A's game friday july 5th - it's a 6:05 game time which will be followed by a pyrospectacular show. and as i've been to oakland pyrospectaculars in the past, i can attest to the fact that their fireworks are spectacular. i know some of u are interested already, and anyone else who's interested - just lemme know b/c i plan on getting tickets this week.

11.35 a.m. June 6-16-2002...

so I'm back in South City b/c of good ole' father's day... not that I really want to be here -- considering that all I hear is criticizing and rude remarks... but otherwise I'm very excited to see all of you or at least some of you at Tiffy's little dinner graduation thingy.... so anyway, I just had to share my davis experience last night... First of all, one rule I learned....NEVER EVER will I again drive back home by myself that late ever again. Why did I decide to drive home to Oakland from Davis at 4:30 a.m?? I thought I was fully awake but after getting on the 113 for 2 min.. I was getting tired already.....now you see, Thank God for Tiff Lam who herself was with Nick and ED driving back from Davis (how was Dan's thing) and was still awake... hehehe thanks again tiff for talking with me the WHOLE WAY home (much love to ED who talked to me as well when I first got on the road).... I swear I was going to close my eyes and drive off the road but I made it... woohoo...

Can I just say that it was first my experience in Davis of going to be a bar/club.... It was called the "cantina" It seemed as if the dynamic of this bar was a sorority/frat meets uh more sorority/frat people... needless to say, there was some very good looking people there... some trashy people.. and some people who I don't think have reached puberty yet... and the dance floor was a lot bigger than I thought...a lot of couples were getting their groove on and bumping and humpin and who knows what else.... I got to meet some of tiffy wiffy's friends as well as their friend Casey.... hehehehe anyways....

anyway... after we leave the cantina.. we end up headed to jack in the crack down the street... and there's about line of 7-8 cars... however all of tiff's roomies were craving eggrolls, sourdough jack... and fries... so we end up waiting..AN ETERNITY! However due to a couple of stalled cars, yelling matches, and a wanna be enimem hoodlum getting all riled up... the entire davis police force (you know all three police cars) come zooming by and close the freakin' jack in the crack down! How lame is that!!! and we were next in line.. not only did we wait for almost and hour.. we were actually next... we ended up going to del taco which is not much of a taqueria (I prefer taco bell than this place) and got food in less than 5 min...

Ok I just had to share my little davis escapade this weekend.. some random thoughts
- Giants and A's - who's the better team?
- Why does the weather change so much in the bay area
- Who wants to go to Reno for the weekend?
- Why does my sister and I act younger than I?
- Tiff lets watching spiderman or star wars this week..how bout uh.. wednesday? or Monday? call me.. anyone else want to come we're going in Jack London.. let us know...

Thank God for Koreans

10:55 AM
Davis

Final Score: US- 1 Poland- 3
Where do I even start? I'm running on about 2 hours of sleep here, thanks to the scheduling of the US game and to my early ass biomechanics final that I just finished not too long ago. Sometimes I really do think there aren't enough hours in the day. But I shall trudge on to give anyone who cares my bizillions of thoughts on the game.

So the studying ceased at 4:15 AM when ESPN started its live broadcast of the US-Poland game. 5 minutes into the game and we're down 2 goals?? What's going on here? The final score should have been 3-2, but stupid ref took Donovan's goal away in the opening minutes. I saw no foul there. I think the ref's getting scrilla under the table from the Portugal or Poland bench.

Dear God, thank you for South Korea's Park Si-jung and again for Brad Friedel, love Tiff.

"The U.S. is in, and that's all that matters, but man was that ugly. Was Freddy Kreuger in the house, because that was a nightmare start for the States."
--World Cup 2Night commentator
The U.S. better get ready to kiss some major Korean ass for the ticket into the 2nd round. Thanks to Korea beating Portugal 1-0, the U.S. stayed in 2nd place and advanced on. But now we're up against Mexico, one of the best and biggest rivals of the U.S. in the CONCACAF. Did anyone catch that feature on the history behind the U.S.-Mexico rivalry on Sportscenter last weekend? Talk about brutal. At this point though, the U.S. needs another ass-whoopin for their poor playing today. Arena better have something up his sleeve and work some magic if he wants his team to make it any further. Hate to be pessimistic, but I don't think they'll be able to squeak past Mexico, considering Mexico didn't lose any of their opening round games.

And can someone tell me what exactly happened to Old Man Agoos. He just went down all of a sudden and next thing we know, he's being carried off the field. I thought I heard an announcer say someone in the stands threw something at him and that's how he got hurt. No way. He should have been taken out a long time ago anyway, back in the early part of the 2nd half of the Portugal game.

I *heart* Donovan

The only highlight I could find in the game was Landon Donovan's persistence and determination throughout the match. Sweet vengence it was when he scored that beautiful goal in the last few minutes of regulation. After getting that early header taken away from him and getting punked by the Poles (did anyone else notice how much they were singling him out?), he still stayed in it and scored the U.S.'s lone goal. And even after the goal, he tried to get his team fired up to get some kind of last minute scoring run together. That's exactly the kind of attitude I like to see in our players. Go Donovan.

I just realized the next game is on Sunday night, the same night as my graduation dinner. I say we eat, schmooze, then head over to my place to watch the game. I realize people probably have work the next morning, but anyone willing to make the sacrifice or use up one of them sick days, come on over.

Hey Ed, you said you'd be up to catch the game. I wanna hear your thoughts. And sorry to everyone who isn't following soccer that this entry had to be solely on World Cup action. But the Cup's where it's at.

Until Sunday,
~the Taft

P.S. I really want one of those Landon Donovan bobblehead dolls now (to put right next to my JC Chasez doll. hee hee). Anyone down to catch a San Jose Earthquakes game with me when Donovan finishes up at the Cup and heads back to the Bay to help the Quakes defend their MLS title??

My How Time Flies

Thursday, June 13, 2002
12:23PM
Davis

I'm sitting here watching another fine episode of Growing Pains where the Seaver kids are at a high school dance and I can't help but recall our own high school dances. Oh the memories. Does anyone else remember that one dance where someone brought out a chair in the middle of the dance floor and the lucky guy sitting in it got a lap dance? I hear the SI dances are getting raunchier. I don't remember dirty dancing being a part of the Jesuit ways. Also, I still, to this day, can't get over how lame our senior prom dance theme was. Glory days. Glory days of all themes. What the?? And remind me again of how I ended up going to senior prom with Alex Ha of all people?

Phil brought up an interesting thought. It's already been 5 years since we graduated high school!! In 5 more years, we'll be back at SI for our 10 year high school reunion.
Question of the day: Where do you think you'll be in those next 5 years??

Soccer Thoughts of the Day:
1- Brazil is bad ass. I hadn't had a chance to watch them play until last night, and all I gotta say is, "Damn." I found myself jumping off the couch yelling "Gooooaaall!!" when they scored each of their 5 goals against Costa Rica. Some of the best ball-handling skills I've ever seen. Damn.
2- If Brazil's Kaka married England's Nicky Butt, they'd be the Butt-Kaka family.
3- Praying to the soccer gods, "Please don't let the US team f**k up their chances. Please don't let the US team f**k up their chances."
4- Why does the US game have to be at 4:30 in the morning? An hour and a half after the game ends, I'll be taking my last final.

I'll be back home in South City from the 17th to the 22nd if anyone wants to come on over and catch some 2nd round and quarterfinal action with me!

Until next time,
~Laffy Tafty

Hey Ed- Were you originally rooting for Argentina because of their fine choice in hairstyles? I think their hair kept getting in their eyes and that's why they missed all those shots on goal. First France, now Argentina. What is this Cup turning into?
Yo Reeg- Shane Battier, Jason Williams, and Coach K turned me into a Duke fan, not necessarily Jefe. Sorry to turn my back on all you guys that love to hate Duke, but my loyalites lie with the Blue Devils.

-Days until graduation: 3
-Days until next U.S. game: 1 and 1/2 (Friday morning at 4:25AM on ESPN)
-Will I be up watching this game: You bet your sweet ass I will
-Check out: **http://espn.go.com/magazine/toc.html**
-Two funny jokes I heard today:
Joke 1- Q: How does a blond turn on the lights after she's had sex? A: She opens the car door
Joke 2- A brunette, a red-head and a blond all enter a breast stroke swimming competition. The brunette goes first and she finishes the course in 30 minutes. The red-head goes and makes it back in an hour and a half. Finally the blond goes and it takes her 5 hours to finish. The judge asks, "What took you so long?" and the blond responds, "Well that wasn't fair, the other girls got to use their arms."
-Funny quote of the day: "I really like sucking all the cream out." -my roommate Veronique (referring to cream-filled donuts, you sickos)
-"I'm a 5-year old" moment: Sitting in front of the TV and watching the 100 episode celebration of Blue's Clues. And yes I was highly entertained.
-Not-so-great moment: Seeing pictures of myself trashed at the last lacrosse party. Gross, just gross. I'm never drinking or smoking ever again.
-1 minute later: Ok, forget it I take that last statement back. I just won't be in the room when cameras are around.
-What I'm saying to myself in my head right now: Stop procrastinating, study for your biomechanics final
-Will I follow my own advice: yes
-Final words: Bye bye bye

Love, Taft (Tiff L, I've decided to just go with the Taft thing, it's starting to grow on me and it makes it a bit easier on us both, you know, because it takes so much effort to type in that extra L or B after our names)

it's me again, hitting this up one more time...right now i have a lotta downtime at work, so i might as well as be productive and contribute to the BLOG...oh yeah, just one comment directed towards phil: man, it's called an adios mother-effer, not a fuzzy nazel or buttery nipple...didn't that hint you as to the potency of the drink? so for future reference make that the 1st drink you get...anyways, let's make a list:

current pet peeve: when you're doing nothing at work all day and then you get 2 hrs of work like 30 minutes before you're supposed to leave...

latest shoes purchased: my Nike Air Revolution Retro's in the White/Blue/Black/Grey colorway...very sentimental pair of shoes to me, I'm glad they came out again...these were the kicks that I rocked in me first bball game...i'll post a picture later...

dream ride: either a '03 Range Rover or a '02 Escalade, not sure what color, on 22's...to quote Ludacris "I can't lose wit 22s, so that's what's up"...dang living here has corrupted me, I was content wit my Nissan...

person most likely to post next on here: ummm, i think it's just us folks!

favorite dessert: mango ice cream...because i'm a Man, and i Go

favorite website (besides this one of course): ebay.com! check out the article on the cover of this week's Newsweek

latest book read: "Bud, Sweat, and Tees" by Alan Shipnuck...finished it last night...chronicles the escapades and follies of a PGA tour rookie and his caddie...good fun read...any suggestions out there b/c the cable in my TV is out...and my remote is broke...so I read...I still wanna read "Rich Dad Poor Dad" if any of yall got a copy...

playa you want the warriors to draft: Caron Butler, slightly ahead of Drew Gooden...just no dookies please!!! (and how can TAFT be a dook fan? what did Jefe Luna-tic do to you?)

well i'ma be like a gift and wrap this up...its almost lunch time...take care fellas and i wanna see more entries! peace yall...

one love,

Crystal clear.....So what's for dinner Tiff? Nick and I want to know. I just finished lunch at Take-It-Easy-Thai, so no Thai food. But Italian sounds good again. Much appreciated.

You're right....this shit is addictive Reeg.

I need a new Cup.........TAFT, what's with Les Bleus three and out? Argentina were my favorites going into the Cup, but they need a big game tonite against the Swedes. Papa Douba Diop, from Senegal, is my new favorite name replacing Junichi (Jet-Moto) Inamoto.....In fact, my forth child (five-ever was funny Reeg) will be named Papa Douba Diop Pan. Third child, of course, being named Peter.

AWOL.....Jefe, Did you join Dan in the Bat-cave...or are your parents moving to Finland?

The guy who's painting my house has a cell phone that looks like it's one of those milatary mobile phones from Saving Private Ryan. He needs a second guy with an antenea strapped to his back just to use it and every time he talks into it I think the 82nd brigade is about to flank me from the left.

Days since a fish has taken it's own life in my tank: 27. So I got that going for me. Which is nice.

Don't diss the Depot,
ECP
from TL
good morning all! yes reeg, this is very addicting. unlike you and doogie howser, however, i like to post in the morning when i'm at work and none of you guys and gals are awake yet.
lets see...so much to comment on.
* tiff - i don't think you should change your name...i think Ed is the only one that can't figure it out. too much SI-pee-pee water in his head.
* phil - i think i should trek my butt over to jack london...i haven't been there in ages. seriously, you don't have to watch star wars (booooo!!!)
* reeg - i'm gonna be down in soCal for July 4th weekend so we should hang around smelly, dirty LA. but you might be up here huh?
* jefe - hurry up and move everything so you can post more!
* ed - damn you! didn't your mom teach you not to bite the hand that feeds you? =) don't worry people like skittles! i like yellow and orange ones! it would be so cool if the paint tasted like skittles..you know, like the wallpaper from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory tasted like fruit! you should really look into that.
* nick - you really suck...on vacation and you STILL can't cook for yourself....get a life!
** sorry tiff, i have to agree with Phil and Reeg. no better place to cruise for junk than Target. but the ultimate place is COSTCO. it the primo spot for everything. i love that place. home depot sucks.
ok, peeps...i really have to work now. toodle-loo!
tiff lam (is the clear enough for you, ed?)

::: the heat is on... :::

*yawn*....
mmm...i just woke up......good morning everybody!

it's 61 degrees right now......woohoo!!!! anyone wanna play hooky and go to baker beach with me?

ok. so i rented this random DVD last night: "blow dry." it stars rachel leigh cook...and one of my honies...josh hartnett!!! i don' care what you foolios say: he's a stud. who could not love him in pearl harbor?! and i know he was suffering from a major mullet in "virgin suicides," but he was still a hottie......

oh, and i didn't watch the dvd yet...so if anyone shares my obsession for josh, [or has an obsession for rachel leigh cook]....yo're welcome to come over and watch it w/ me!

thanks, peeps, for supporting the aussieaussieaussie foundation on saturday night i have to say that it was lots of fun. i especially enjoyed phil's comments to everyone on valencia street....market street.....waller street....and scott street... while in the taxi cab.

oooohhh...and tennis the next day. or should i say, MORNING. good lord, i can't believe we were able to play the morning after going out. not like we really played. phil, ariel and i were like SI intramurals, while rob and man-E were like the french open......
...and no, phil...i doubt we will play like that when we are 30.....i wish!

yesterday i went to trader joe's. that is the greatest grocery store EVER!!! we should all take a field trip there. where else can you buy $.89 pitas and $5.00 red wine?

i, too, have been drawn into this world cup extravaganza.......it's so much fun....towatch it on telemundo. i mean, there's no other way to watch it! and i agree w/ nast: what better way to brush up your espanol than by watching the world cup? it's like spanish 4AP!

speaking of foreign languages, ai saw a great french film about a year ago and now it's playing @ the red vic. i think we should go watch it....if you like french films. it's called amelie. i'm sure you've heard of it....it's so funny!
PHIL....i know you're down...it's playing june 14 - 17th.....

ED: driving the houseboat and saving a life IS possible....it's called "cruise control." i would rather have it on cruise control than having michelle get our boat pulled over....get tested for drunk driving...and then threaten to box the boat cop...and then proceed to egg his boat after....*sigh*....how classic would that be?

WHEN ARE WE GONNA PLAY SOFTBALL?????

PHIL: i wanna go to an amusement park...but i REFUSE to ride the starfish ride @ marine world......anyone wanna go some weekend?

TAFT: my bad re: your soccer mens.....and yes, i do remember how possesive you are w/ your athletic mens...and your teen pop mens......

NAST: i would extend an offer with the pizza...but i think we should order good ol' extreme pizza instead.....whaddya think?

TL: tips on increased tolerance......start w/ shots....sweet, fruity ones.....and space out your drinking time....you'll build tolerance to these drinks quickly...and before you know it, you'll be a full blown alchoholic!.....not really...but you'll be able to drink at least 2 drinks....

CHRISTINE: ....we have to hang out soon.....we should go to phil's and go swimming!!!!

*yawn* allrighty peoples....i gotta get ready for work now [ugh].....have fun!!!!

peace out.
~syL

This thing can get addicting, venturing inside the curious minds of the people who contribute here. I feel like a hybrid of Mr. Belvedere and Doogie Howser as I post this before my night's slumber. I don't know about yall, but I think its time to change the pictures on the front. No offense philsta and vmaysta, but my suggestion is too give the reegsta some love....some mahal....or how 'bout a pic of the week? That would be hot, and then me could quote Nelly (of the E.I.E.I uh oh! fame, not the one who thinks she has wings), and say "it's gettin hot in herre."

So today I work, and work some more, and look forward to my trip to Target. After working 1.5 hrs overtime but not gettin paid for it (i feel ya phil), I finally head to Target, since Tar-jhay is where its at. I concur, this is the spot. Forget Home Depot, Target is the hangout...i know yall remember "Career Opportunities?" This was Jennifer Connelly's breakthrough role; forget "A Beautiful Mind," she deserved an Oscar for this flick. I know I ain't the only one who caught this movie, along with "The Rocketeer"....woohoo......ever since then Target has been the best discount sto' fa sho'....thank you Jennifer.

So its my roommates birthday today, and a bunch of us go to this Italian restuarant where the portions are mad massive. I felt like I was eating out of the serving bowl it was so dang big. But I'm already somewhat full because of all the free bread they be giving out...combined with the fact that they take fiveever (not forever b/c it was longer than that) to bring me my pasta. During this downtime, I was pondering about Anti-pasta...I mean, is this what the Anti-Christ eats? And how come no other food has a nemesis? Why did Pasta do to deserve this? Do yall wonder this also, or am I Han-Solo on this? But the actual point of this latest rambling is that the place was in Venice, right near the beach. LA can be smelly at times, dirty and fakey, but it does have its advantages, with Venice being one of them...so if any of yall decide to be like Star and trek down here, i'll bring you there, along with other happenin spots...maybe yall could steer the boat down the coastline and i'll meet you at the dock...

Instead of a quote I'll leave yall with a joke. Q: What's in the middle of Texas?

one love,
reegman

A: X

Sorry yall I just heard that one today.
*phil sits at his computer desk @ home while watching elimidate*

So I see more people have added to the blog... how exciting... see you'll just have to read daily to keep up!!!... anyway I left work today at 8:15pm... can you believe it? I'm working 12 hours/day.. this is sweatshop labor I tell ya!!!! ok I know i keep b*tchin about this job but I can't help it... it sucks!

NIck - I know something is wrong w/ me.. of course I wasn't in line the day star wars came out.. where else would I be ---- WORK of course!!! ARGH.....b
but I hope to see that movie soon..

Tiff L - I'll go watch spiderman with ya... wanna go over here in jack london, or do you wanna go into the good ole' amc...

Reegsta... It's a condo not an apt... so I will have a condo warming... (doesn't that sound lame)

Tiff B - I can't believe you said walmart!!!! How dare you shop at my competitor... everyone knows the bullseye a.k.a target is #1 =) heheehhehehe
ok maybe not... I know walmart is the #1 retailer..... I know I know... but I pick target over walmart any day =) except when I'm really short for cash and I need super bargains... heheheeheh by the way I did watch the world cup last ngiht and might I add that it was very exciting.. I couldn't stay up the whole time so I never saw Korea Score....

Jefe- so since you moved, are you looking for work? or do you still work downtown? I always forget...

so did everyone have fun saturday??? It was nice seeing you guys all again...

Monday, June 10, 2002

nick's notes....

what day is it today??? is it saturday? this is usually my #1 complexing issue everyday while i lead the life of a vacationing man.

ed- i thought that we were gonna let everyone know about our love child in a different fashion than the way u decided to just come out and say it. but don't worry anyone - i, like rickey henderson, am not taking any steroids; so the baby should be healthy and happy. just a side note: rickey henderson is not my hero, he's just my favorite all-time athlete (and i find it amazing that his big league career began the same year i was born, and i'm already starting to feel old)

i've gotten plenty of responses from people regarding my taking them out for pizza, but i haven't heard too much from anyone about going out and winning your own free pizza by attending a baseball game in which the A's hit another homer. and by the way, i'm free any saturday to go to lunch w/any of u for pizza....so how about tomorrow, or the saturday the in two days from now, or how about that saturday three days from today?

and for those who are interested, kenny rogers' song is lady

phil- something is wrong w/u, along w/anyone else who didn't wait in line to go watch star wars on opening night. i remember sitting in line seeing people passing by going about there daily routine w/o waiting endlessly in line for star wars - and i just kept thinking, "what's wrong w/these crazy people, don't they know we're talking about star wars?"

ms. taft- i have to concur w/your observations regarding the spectaular goal keeping performed by friedel. and if u've been watching all these soccer games, even at 3am, it's a good way to study for that espanol test u have if u're watching the games in spanish.

*last thing i ate: i can't recall, it's been so long since i last ate. i had dinner plans for tonight, and unexpectedly those plans vanished.
random side note: crickets can be so unrealiable

-nick
Hola, me llamo Taft. Como estas?

UCD Computer Lab

With ECP's suggestion in mind, I've decided to change my name to Taft, for convenience purposes. So from now on, I will only respond to Taft. You say, "Hey Taft!" I say "Yo wassup!"

Ed - I think you'd be surprised at how obsessed I've been with the World Cup. I haven't slept any earlier than 3AM for the past week because of all these games. Finally, someone else who's actually watching and keeping up with the most widely played sport in the world. Also, Home Depot may be a cool hangout for you, but Walmart's my sanctuary. Yeah it's ghetto. White trashy if you will. But with prices like $3.98 or $5.13, cmon it's got "personality." I think Michelle can back me up on this too, as we've spent muchas horas en Walmarto.

Friedel is my hero

U.S. tied South Korea 1-1 last night (or earlier today, depending on what time zone you're speaking from) and Friedel is my new hero. Good god, I've never seen such spectacular goalkeeping in all my life. I'm a bit disappointed in Beasley and Donovan however, more so with Donovan, because the spark they had in the Portugal game just wasn't there. We're lucky we didn't get our asses kicked in this game because Korea had some good opportunities and we were tired as hell. US needs to get an offensive game going here, otherwise they're not gonna last long in this Cup.

It's 6:17PM and ESPN is re-airing the game again right now, so I'm gonna go home and watch. I should be home just in time for Mohawk Mathis' pretty goal.

Hasta luego,
~Taft
Someone help me out......Is it a bad thing, that every time I come home, there's a new Skittles color painted on my house?

Suggestions, thoughts, queries et.al. a la carte......

Tiff(L) in order to build your tolerance you should......wait, don't you have to be 21 to drink?

Jefe...can Nick and I borrow your two seater van to prove a point? We think the carpool lane is a.o.k, while others doubt us. And, don't worry. If we get pulled over we'll claim that Nick's pregnant, and an unborn child is a person, hence the carpool lane for me, Nick, and Nick's unborn child.

Tiff(B), there's no way you are more into the Cup than I am. And, by the by...can you or Tiff(L) change your name so everyone doesn't get confused all the time? How's about Biffany or T-Bomb or TAFT (The Asian chic Formerly known as Tiff-B). Whaddaya think TAFT? I also figured I'd ask you before asking Tiff because she's not even willing to change her last name when she gets married. TAFT, please tell Tiff she's crazy.

I don't know if I can drive a house boat and save everyone from drowning at the same time. I suggest life vests and no water. We keep the house boat on it's trailor hitch and just drive around. That way, we still have the fun of a house boat and there's no chance of anyone drowning. Of course, unless, Tiff falls into the toilet.

Did anyone else hear that Dan built a cave and locked himself inside? 'Cause that's just what I heard.

I've figured out a way to work from 6a.m. till 6p.m. and not be tired at the end of the day.....just start at 6a.m. Alluetian Standard Time and end at 6p.m. Eastern Standard Time. I'm going to run that by my boss and see what he thinks.

Who else thinks that the Home Depot is the coolest hang out place ever?

Can I ask for a raise and reduce my hours at the same time?

You happy now?,
ECP

Hello fellow fellows,

After some pestering from Phil (j/p), I'm posting my follow-up. Gotta have variety on this board (no offense regulars), but as they say, variety is the spice of life (do they really say that? dang ambiguious pronouns). As one of 2 SoCali residents, along with in-house Nurse Michelly (like Nurse Betty), I luckily get filled in with the happenings up north, thanks to these blogs and phone calls and IMs. The V-may visited me this past weekend, and to clarify things, WE WENT TO THE BRITNEY SPEARS CONCERT BECAUSE IT WAS A GIFT TO HER. Solely for that purpose. AS A GIFT! It was at Staples Center, and there were laker signs everywhere. It was driving me Crazy, like Britney! (ooh sorry about that corn) Anyways, we paid a twomp for parking. A twomp I repeat! ( Twomp = $20 for the unhip). Did I mention that the tickets were a gift? THAT'S IT. It's not like she's hot or something =).

Well that's basically all I wanted to say for now. I have more to tell, in due time. Here's a quote from Rickey Henderson about the claim that 50% of baseball players use steriods. "Well, I'm not one of them, so that makes it 49%." Gotta love him...I'm out like Tyson...

one love,
reeeeeeeeeeeeeg

the JEFE has finally entered the WORLD of the BLOG. Hooray! I made it. Hecka ppl told me about it last night and now i see the page and i'm like there's hecka stuff to read, but not enough time. Where have I been as of late you might ask? Well, my parents and I decided to move from our old house to a new one in westlake, so it's been crazy hectic lately. That's why no emailing or blogging from me as of late. I hope to be back on the regular within a week or so. I need to get situated. It's late and i should sleep, but i wanted to drop everyone a line and give thanks to whoever started this and thanks for all those who participate. Later every1!
adios mother f*cker

why the hell did I drink that last one at skylark??? For those of you who werren't there... me, val R, sylv, manny went out for drinks after eating at Lori's Diner on Saturday Night.... We had first gone to tunnel top to meet Alan and the gang but then went we started getting bored.. and no one had shown up yet we decided things needed to get a little more spiced up.... so hence we went to the mission... We went to this place called Skylark which is actually a very nice bar for the mission... very mixed crowd.. half marina/ half normal... but anyway we get there and have a couple of shots and a drink... when Alan, Anup, Rich, Ed, Jeff, Kevin, Tiff L, NIck, Steph, Anthony all come in and we just have a good old time.... some of us headed to the dance floor to get our groove on.... which might I say was a trek in itself to get to the dance floor.. but by then I was completely wasted b/c Tiff got me this blue drink called adios mother f*cker... and boy was it strong.. I have no clue till this instant how much alcohol was in it... but she poured four bottles at once in the glass and it turned blue... and I was gone... I think I was calling people ugly outside of the club and I was waving to everyone I saw while I was in the taxi on the way back to Sylv's place.... I haven't been that wasted in so long... what a great feeling... I ended up crashing at Sylv's place till 6a.m. and drove home... and then I met up with Sylv and Val And their significant others for some tennis action at my place.... can I just say that Rob and Manny (sylv and val's other half) play like andre agassi and michael chang.....we didnt' even really play with them b/c they were way out of our league.... anyway I just had to share my weekend...

random thoughts
- I still haven't seen spiderman, star wars or lord of the rings for that matter... is something wrong w/ me?
- I should have a housewarming soon... huh... I realized it's been 2 months already and I still haven't had it...
- what cd's should I switch into my car... I need to switch it up ab it
- are the giants going to win the pennant this year
- why have the nets not won a game yet

ok that' slall for now... hope to hear from you all soon!

(Not So) Deep Thoughts

Responses to Others' Bloggies:
*houseboats: excellent idea, but how much will this set me back? the houseboat pictured looks tight. gonna feel like one of them extras in Jay-Z's "Big Pimpin" video
*ropes course: hell yeah. I did this with a group of friends a few years back and it is awesome. Just the kind of activity our group needs.

-Check out: **http://espn.go.com/thelife/landon_donovan.html**
-Days until graduation: 7
-Days until my (oh my god) 23rd birthday: 34
-CD playing in my car, oops I mean in my cd walkman attached to my trusty bike: Jay-Z's Unplugged
-CD in my stereo in my room: Mary J Blige's "Mary"
-CD I want to buy: too many to name
-Concert I can't wait to go to: Warped Tour (anyone down to go?? July 13 & 14)
-Song stuck in my head: "Papa Don't Preach" - Kelly Osbourne's version from the MTV movie awards
***I felt like I was watching my kid sister perform on stage or something. Kinda awkward. But this girl is too cute. And I love her hair!
-Last movie watched: The Wedding Planner on HBO
***Matthew McConaughey - oh my. The fact that he plays a pediatrician especially hits a soft spot and skyrockets his hotness factor. And yes I did cry again, at the same scene (where Jennifer Lopez is crying over the guy she almost married)
-Last TV show watched: MTV's Cribs
-Anxious about: finals, graduation ceremony and dinner
-Excited about: my new dress and new jeans that I got in the last two days (neither of which I paid for - thank you gift certificate and shopping trips with mommy and her credit card)
-Hoping: Mike Dunleavy decides to stay and play another year for Duke
-Goal of the day: to not slouch so much
***I really need to work on my posture. Did you know good posture makes you look slimmer? Plus slouching puts extra, unnecessary stress on your back (specifically on your lumbar spine). Aren't you glad I'm an exercise science major and can share these fun facts with you?
-Watch out for: U.S. vs South Korea World Cup game on Sunday night at 11:30PM on ESPN2
***I've given you the day, the time and the channel. Just go watch the game people. Who knows, you may even enjoy it. Give soccer a chance.
-Tiff's thoughts on the game: Ok so some of you may be thinking "South Korea? Are they even any good?" Well it appears that this year, they are. They pulled off an upset against Poland (score 2-0) the day before the U.S. upset Portugal, and some of that victory can be attributed to the fact that they have home field advantage and an entire stadium of fans behind them. Expect the same for Sunday's match-up. Apparently there's a lot of hostility in Korea towards the U.S. and extra security has been placed around the players. It's gonna be a tough match for them, but if they come out strong and play with the same intensity they did against Portugal, anything's possible. And if they win, I'm pulling my shirt off and running crazily around Davis, in great soccer tradition.
-Funny word of the day: Flatulence
-Question of the day: Are you feeling flatulent today? Please post your response.
Parting thoughts: I wonder what everyone thinks when they read my blogs?

ta-ta for now,
~Miss Tiffany Grace Basilio
*Phil sits at his small hole at Mervyn's on Saturday afternoon wondering why the hell he's here*

::: oops! somene made a booboo.... :::

sorry peeps...apparantly there has been some trouble these past 2 days with actually publishing the "posts" onto the website.....turns out there was some random error in someone's "blog"....

but no worries...the booboo is all gone now...and now everyone can go and publish away......

btw...check out that link i posted on my previous entry. it's a crash course in html coding....have fun!!!!

as for me....

today was interesting...

instead of interning today, my boss asked me to be her in-house model for a photoshoot @ her client's boutique. no pay, but i got to wear some fabulous jewelry.....and...laurel heights in sf was gorgeous today...so i suppose my winter blues in JUNE is slowly subsiding......

::: ding ding ding :::

i got to ride the cable car the other day! woohoo! i haven't rode the cable car in ages! to think [as a kid] i thought it was a city-wide rollercoaster.....

my friend just moved into a fabulous new pad in russian hill.....so a few of us girlies decided to gover there and pretend we were on that show, "trading spaces" ..ever seen it? it's when 2 couples get to swap apartments for a day and completely renovate it with professional interior designers......

that show rocks.

ok, so we weren't exactly pro interior designers, but we did have a blast moving stuff around her place....plus, we rewarded ourselves with a yummy dinner and some wine......

and since we're all on this "what's in your CD player" thing

in my stereo i currently have.....
1. "room for sqaures" by john mayer
2. pete yorn [self titled album]
3. "midnight vultures" by beck
4. billie holliday's greatest hits
5. "the love movement" by tribe called quest

hey nast: i'm down to go to a ballgame any time.....just pick a date!

miss tiff lam: camping sounds like a blast, but i am working every saturday in june....boo hoo...but how about river rafting in july??? russian river anyone???

doyouphilme: are we gonna play tennis or what?!

everyone else:
ok, so i have this ingenius idea for our whole group.....basically, i think it would be rad if we rented a HOUSEBOAT and spent a weekend on it in the CALIFORNIA DELTA [1 1/2hrs away].......the boat sleeps approx 15 and has a hot tub....kitchen....bbq grill.....tv...vcr...stereo....and a dope waterslide which goes into the delta! it's a DOUBLE DECKER boat and it is sooooo nice! all we would do all day is lounge...tan...swim...float around in inner tubes...have water balloon and watergun fights w/ other boats....listen to music...play board games....be stupid....gorge ourselves with bbq food.....play mafia...get wasted....read....wrestle....take stupid pictures...the possibilities are endless!

i am willing to organize this, too....i'm thinkin, though, that it should be in september [i'm going to europe in august] b/c it's off season but still really hot and nice [i went on one of these trips last october and it was scorching!]....plus, it's cheaper.

lemme know, peeps.....the sooner we can get this rollin, the better!

sayonara!

p.s: anyone down to party tomorrow w/ val r and her aussie x 3??? they wanna go out....call me!

A Bucket-o-Beer, a Shopping Cart, and Some Drunken Fun

UCD Computer Lab

Wow, big Hi-5's to us all for posting so much!! Awesome. Reading these here blogs is one of the highlights of my day (the other being my iced mocha every morning. I think I'm getting a little too addicted to coffee here folks. My hands start to shake when I don't get my morning fix. I take it that's not a good sign). I do think we need to hear a little more from the Regan and Jeff camp. Has Jeff even seen this site? Where are the rest of the guys? Cmon people, let's share.

People have been requesting stories from my party last weekend, but sadly enough nothing major happened. I'm still quite bummed at my lack of drunkenness from that night. Stupid jello shots. Normally they can push me over the edge. But this time they weren't so potent. Either that or I'm just a frikkin alcoholic. But a few days after the party, I was getting rid of the remaining beer in the keg with my roommate Veronique (owner of the devil dog Diogi) and we couldn't just open the spout on the tap and let it flow onto the dirt in the backyard (because one-it would leave the backyard reeking of stale beer and two- beer attracts snails. Thanks to my Bio-teaching roommate Mona for that fun fact) . So Veronique had the idea of putting it all in this big ass bucket we had lying around the apartment and then dumping it out front. After lots of beer foamage, we finally got to the beer itself and filled it on up (what a waste of perfectly good Coors Light by the way, I was saddened to see it all go, but I couldn't drink it (trust me, I tried) because it was all warm and nasty from being in the sun all day). So we have this huge ass bucket of beer (this is one of those times I wish I had a digital camera so I could have taken a picture of the bucket o beer and posted it) sitting in the backyard and I look to Diogi and think, "How great would that be if I just threw little Diogi into the bucket." and I told Veronique this, and she gets pissed and calls me a bitch. Mona and I were laughing just because it would have been the best use of stale beer ever. But the idea didn't fly so well with Veronique. Oh well. Ok I know that wasn't the best story, but I just thought it was funny myself. I love thinking of ways to torture this damn dog. No love for the D.O.G. No love.

Ok maybe this next story will amuse you...

So I was having some drinks at a teammate's friend's place last Thursday and we decided to walk from his apartment to the bars. It was quite a walk, but when you're drunk, distance is no issue. We're walking along, tra-la-la, beers in hand (thank you open container law, which sadly will be gone by next month), when we spot a shopping cart lying around on the sidewalk. Us being drunk and all, the only logical thing to do with the shopping cart is use it as transportation. But this was no ordinary shopping cart from Safeway. This mo-fo was pimped out and had a wonderful cup (or beer, whatever your preference) holder up in the middle of the cart. One can just sit and ride in the cart, not having to hold the bottle and risk beer being spilled upon you. This holder did it all for you. So I hop on in my Safeway chariot and we're making our way up and over the overpass when we see a cop car drive right past us going the opposite direction. Oh crap! So our initial reaction was to run, but mind you I'm still sitting in the cart, only now we're going at like 60 mph on the overpass. So we decided to ditch the cart and toss the beer (which now I look back on and think, why did we toss the beer when we were all 21 and over anyway). We continue walking along, as if we didn't do anything wrong, didn't just steal this cart from Safeway, waiting for the cop to pull over next to us. God I could just hear the jail door slamming shut already. But we're walking, and walking, but no cop. He ended up continuing down the road, in the opposite direction from us, and we were in the clear. Once again I managed to avoid a public drunkenness citation. There is a God.
nick's notes (6-7-02)....

did anyone see that A's game yesterday....probably not since it wasn't televised, but i was able to see it since i went to the game. and at the game when tejada went yard w/a 3-run jimmy jack to put the A's in the lead & i won a free pizza from round table b/c i was in the winning section for if any A hit a hr in that inning....byrnes hit a hr that inning too, all part of the A's running away w/it to beat the m's 10 - 4. so if anyone's hungry and in the mood for some pizza, it's on me.

oooh, ropes course - i like that idea....oooh, house boat trip - i like that idea....oooh, camping - i like that idea....oooh, rice krispie treat and mocha blast from baskin - i like that idea; so many good ideas - i'm down for all of them. but if we do a ropes course do we have to do it caritas style (that's not funny for anyone who never been to caritas creek, sorry - it's probably not funny for anyone who's been to caritas creek either, sorry). i feel like tossing in an idea too - anyone wanna go to a baseball game, i was thinking of watching a giants v. A's game: that would mean we could watch the A's pound the giants at pa bell pak from june 14-16, or watch the A's thump the giants at the net in oakland from june 28-30. anyone interested???

-nick

p.s. my music selection: in my truck i currently have stevie wonder's greatest hits

pps another thing, how come when i goto www.the3rdfloor.blogspot.com i can read some postings, but when i goto www.blogger.com to actually type and edit my own blog i can now see some messages from syl and michelle which i didn't see on the www.the3rdfloor.blogspot.com website???

michEE's 2 cent's worth ...

I just got back from watching Lord of the Rings or is it called Fellowship of the Rings (whatever!) for the first time. What a good movie!!!! I'm such a sap tho ... I cried =( But anyway it was so good. Don't wanna spoil it for anyone who didin't watch it, but you have to go see it! I'm so glad I had a chance to go and watch it in the theatre ... why it's still showing in the theatre? I don't know. There was a trailer for the next movie at the end of this one too, so bonus for me!

Today's movie day for me, Immma go n watch a French movie called "Orphee" tonight in Balboa Park (kinda like Golden Gate park) they're showing it in the park somewhere at dusk. Seems like it'd be fun to go and watch a movie on the grass, never done that before. We'll see. Too bad I don't speak french tho. I'll be SOL if there's no subtitles. Better bring my glasses!

TL- I never got the email about camping? am I not invited? if I am, I might be interested in going. It sound's like fun I don't think I can remember the last time I went camping. How exciting! Some places you might want to look into Big Sur, American River, Russian River, or some where by Santa Cruz, or even Tahoe. Hey, could we do a ropes course? I don't know if anyone would actually be down for it but it seems like it be some much fun. Remember Caritas Creek Tiff and Tiff and any other Holy Namers out there? ... just a thought tho.

So has everyone heard about Syl's houseboat idea? Are you guys all planning on going? I tried to talk Syl into letting me drive the boat but apparently that's out of the question ... I don't know why? Ed gets to drive the boat. I think it'd be soo much fun to learn how to drive the boat. Or maybe I could be his alternate, you know, in case for some reason he isn't able to drive the boat. (Just a thought) But I guess I'll leave that thought behind me now. =( Do you guys know when this trip is supposed to be planned for? Christine, you heard July? I heard September? Syl?

As for talking bout CD's ... I don't know the last time I actually purchased one. Just installed a CD played in my car bout 2 months ago ( a birthday present from howard) but I don't seem to use it all that often. An I don't have a burner, nor do I have cable or DSL. Plus I can't figure out for the life of me how to download music onto my computer. So I'm pretty much a radiohead ... which is kinda stinky with my choice of stations and all. Oh well, so sad, too bad.

Well I must bid you all adieu now. Adieu, adieu to you and you and you!
::: yikes! stripes! fruit stripe gum! :::

do you remember that bubble gum? it was my favorite ever!

ANYWAYS.....sorry for lagging on the picture code, people.....this week has been a little crazy....job interviews...helping my friend move in....etc.etc....

but, since today was my day of fun [a.k.a my fashion internship], i am actually not nearly as tired as a typical day from kate spade.

also, i also was holding back on this bit of info, patrially b/c it's somewhat tricky....but we're all intelligent st.ignatius alumnae, so i know y'all can pick this up in no time.....

so here we go:
basically, it is a type of html code. meaning, you insert a type of html "tag" in your blog post [btw....a "post" is the creation of your actual entry...while "publish" is actually placing your "post" onto the "blogspot"].

basic html image tag is: < img src="----------" >

example:
if you want a picture of phil on your entry, and the image is located on www.phil.com, the tag would look like this:
......< img src="http://www.phil.com" >........

this is where the whole image thing gets tricky. you can't just load a pic from your desktop onto the webpage. the image actually has to be located on the internet already, on some other website. which is why it's a good idea to start a online album.

so, if tiff lam wants to post a pic of her world cup hottie...she would do this:
1. go onto the fifaworldcup.com (?) website...
2. locate a page on the site with the pic that she wants....
3. right click onto that image and select "open image in new window"
4. copy website address in new window
5. enter this address in the parentheses area of the basic html image tag.

and after she does that, she types her daily entry...and then hit post...publish...blah blah blah....

and......

viola!

oops! that's MY favorite player....mr. becks himself!!!!!....yummmmm

any other questions?? check this out!!!

p.s: i'll post again....this is just my blog tutorial....
christine's random thoughts:

i'm spending my lunch at my desk today (oh so exciting) and eating the BEST rice krispie treat ever made from the cafe downstairs (now that's exciting!). yum!!! guess that means i'm hittin the gym tonite.

sylv - loved the pictures from slanted door/triangle/matrix! did we take pix at matrix? actually i don't remember seeing any... oh how sad! oh well that's ok... i especially liked the one where you, me and phil are blinking at the exact same time and, coincidentally, the flash goes off... lovely... so when we gonna do this houseboat idea of yours? it's a great idea - maybe in july sometime? i can't believe it's already june! the year is half over! yikes!

saw the lakers-nets game last nite... now i don't usually watch basketball, and i actually just started watching with the last round of playoffs, so i don't know much about the sport or the strategy or the entertainment value of it all. but compared to the playoffs, this first nba finals game was BOR-ing! am i just not educated enough to enjoy and admire the fine strategies these 2 teams are trying to use? someone help me please...

does anyone know how to get any good deals on disneyland/california adventure tix or rental cars? goin to la in a couple of weeks and that's my part of the research. has anyone been to CA adventrure? any good? i'm thinking of skipping it but i gotta at least do the research for the other peeps. thinking also of getting tix to the jay leno show down there. did you know they're free??? i did not know that... any info out there in the blog world (population: 5) about this stuff?

tiff and phil - tanya does suck. and her boy justin didn't do much either to make himself look any better. they're dumb. so do both of you guys watch all this reality tv stuff? i think real world is the only one i watch.

damn, this rice krispie treat is good!

everyone likes to talk about cd's on here, eh? my friend burned me the "off the hook" cd and it's just fah-bulous! it's got a bunch of stuff - nas, naughty by nature, joe, ja rule, glenn lewis, very diverse songs. i heard donnell jones is supposed to be at glas kat this friday...is he cute? LOVE his new song... wonder if i should actually purchase the cd. i keep getting a lot of songs stuck in my head... right now it's "hot in here"... which it actually isn't. =( i'm cold but i left my jacket in the car cuz i thought it'd be as freakin hot as it was yesterday. oooh, yesterday was so hot that i got a mocha blast from baskin... ever had those? yummy yum yum... can you tell i have a sweet tooth?

ok gotta get back to work sometime so i might as well just go now... *sigh* talk to y'alls later!

from TL

i just sent another email to you all about camping...let me know if anyone wants to go!

i had a really weird dream last nite and i just wanted to share. i dreamnt that i was ice skating with a HONG KONG superstar actor / singer. i've had a major thing for him since i was a little girl but like my mom says "he's an old washed up actor" there has been rumors that he's gay too so i'm not sure why i dreamnt about a gay man! am i that freakin desperate that i have to dream about guys that i have absolutely no chance with. i already know that when i'm AWAKE! sheesh! anyone want to offer any psychobabble interpretations?

my contribution for the day! please don't think i'm too pathetic...i already think that =)

anyways, tell me if any of you are interested in the camping trip. talk to you guys and gals soon

always

christine's attempt #2 at blogging...

wow, there sure is a lot to read on this site already! i just checked it last friday and there were only 2! anyways, so how are y'all? i'm here at work trying to kill time until 5:30... my eyes sure are getting heavy... oops, someone just walked by and could see that i was doing nothing work-related... oh well... =P

so tiffy, how was your davis shin-dig? any wild stories to share on this blogspot? i'm sorry that i missed it but i too had to go to oakland to pose as miss britney.... figured "what the heck" and got all dressed up - it was fun. i was super bowl britney... track pants, super bowl t-shirt and of course the infamous sock! c'mon you all remember dont you? unfortunately tho, i don't think i've ever been stared at more in my life. my friend's manager even saw me there... it was a great show tho - very entertaining. and just loved the fire and the fireworks! congrats also on your graduation! when's your actual ceremony? do you need tix to go?

nick, happy belated birthday and congratulations!!! i bet you're spoiling him already... what are uncles for? ok i ended up with some work to do so now it's time to go home! yay! i'll write again later but let's see if this msg even posts! laters...
from lil'tiff

what up homies! i mean, phil, tiff, sylv, michelle, and nick. it seems like we're the only one here...everyone else's loss.
i just sent everyone an email about a possible camping trip that i am planning. anyone interested? i'm looking for a place that is near the beach so we can hang out in the sun. so if you know of a place and you are down, let me know!!!
-tiff, don't you have finals? staying up so late to watch soccer...you're pretty hardcore! i would like to see this Landon Donovan...maybe i should get into soccer. and yes, even stevens is a cute show. we have such great taste!
-the mole, phil? are you sure you like the show? it seems too complicated...and way you get eliminated is too arbitrary. the questions are too hard to freakin answer. but i can tell you this, that latvia chick is one scary lady! anyways, i'm sure you're baking in hayward right now! i'm baking here in the city! i think i will take up on your tennis challenge. name the place and time and be prepared to get burned! heehee..dont' worry i totally suck!

4:07 AM
Davis

It's 4:07 in the morning and I am wide awake. I just finished watching the entire US vs. Portugal World Cup game, live from Korea and my oh my, what a game it was. What an upset. Portugal was said to even be a contender for the Cup and here come the kids from the US beating them 3-2. I've never seen such an exciting soccer game in all my life. For those of you who normally wouldn't give a crap about soccer, now is the time to support your team. This is big. BIG. I still can't even believe what I just saw here. Moments like these are why I love sports so much. The pain of the Kings' loss has faded away, enter soccer mania. Landon Donovan - hot. Jeff Agoos - big ponytail-wearing idiot for friggin scoring on our own goalie (but that's okay because Portugal scored on themselves too). US defense - bad ass. ESPN is re-airing the game at 12 noon today so if you read this before then, GO WATCH THIS GAME (and if you can, tape it for me). Next game's on Monday the 10th against the home team, South Korea.

GO U.S. SOCCER!!

p.s. Hey Sylv, how do you put pictures up on this thing??I want to post one of Landon Donovan. :-)
