Thanks Taft for playing 1980s trivia (or at least giving it a shot). But not so fast. As much as it would be a privilege for you to ESCORT me to target, you failed to answer one of the questions completely. Hint: read #3 again. Quick and answer it and I'll let you be my CALL GIRL for a night out to target.
UPDATE: there was a Leland Beale sighting last night on sportscenter (SC)! His longwood team played the #1 Fighting Illini of Illinois and lost. Anyways, he snuck into a highlight when his man spun around him for a layup. But I was glad to have caught my boy (all of 1 second of him and NOT 13minutes and 22 seconds : /) on SC, cuz when you make SC, you've made it into the big time!
Aside for any Duke player and Beale, my next favorite college b-ball player is Adam Morrison, the sophomore forward for Gonzaga University. He looks so lost on the court and he runs kinda funny, but he has (as what many like to refer to) as MAD GAME. He likes to stroke it...from the outside! Plus, as a feel good story, he's been dealing with diabetes since childhood and quoting him "the shots he gives himself make him irritable." That's why he plays so well. Anyways for more info about him, just ask Nick, since Morrison plays in the same conference as the USF Dons. Or you can ask Reeg. I believe reeg had an up-close and personal sighting of him...Morrison dropped 24 points in an upset victory over reeg's beloved g-tech yellow jackets!
BTW: On my recent trip to san diego over the x-mas weekend, I went to Horton Plaza Mall and came across a very sexy job. Picture this. A cute, blonde sexy san diego girl (of legal age) and Hot Dog on a Stick. How can you beat a girl in that uniform thrusting up and down mashing lemons while making lemonade and pretty much doing a dance to her own beat. It was quite sexy...you just had to be there. Like they say...when you have lemons make lemonade! Oh yeah, as you all know, cherry lemonade from HDOAS is a must have!
Also, if you are ever in SD, as was recommended to me by michelle, you must go to a place in downtown called Extraordinary Desserts. Very trendy place with a huge ass clear glass front door that can be mistaken as open and you can walk right into accidently. Never spent so much on dessert but was well worth it. Their dessert portions are huge (not claim jumper huge, but HUGE) What should you get? Well, thanks for asking...my sis got a Napoleon (a fruit tart with a sour type of custard). Looks good visually but the sour dominates over the sweetness. Takes getting used to...prolly not gonna be able to finish. I got what they called a Moroccan. A rich, chocolately cake with some crunchy crumb thingy. It was extraordinary...i'm drooling just thinking of it! I couldn't finish it, but lucky enough, I finished for breakfast the next morning :) what a way to start off the day! Oh yeah, one last thing, they have an extraordinary (yes...that good) chai latte there. I really don't like those type of drinks, but my sis encouraged me to try hers and I was in bliss. It was so good!
I love SD...i'm gonna move there...come visit me...such a beautiful city! Everytime I'm there, there's a voice inside me telling me that I belong there. I don't get that voice in any other place. Oh yeah, my sis lives right down the street from AC Slater. How cool is that! Taft, no Jason Cox sighting but I did see the high school he went to.
Taft, can I borrow Mean Girls from you? We rented it and I wanted to watch it over and over, but not enough time, so I only got to watch it ONCE :( Wasn't diggin White Chicks as much as I was diggin MG.
One last reason to love SD: their radio sations play music pretty nonstop! and there's like 6 stations to choose from. My fave is 93.3 since they continually play Ryan Cabrera "True" and Jesse McCartney "Beautiful Soul." These 2 fall into my category known as tighty whities! They're white and their singing is tight.
Anyways,
Jefe

I'm bored at work, so I thought I'd take a crack at Jeff's little quiz. It's a little on the late side, but whatever, no one else has posted any answers yet.
1. "Who's the Boss" theme song.
2. What chu talkin bout, Jeff. The "two" as noted in the song refers to Arnold and Willis, of "Diff'rent Strokes."
3. The "new boy" in the neighborhood would be Charles, as in "Charles in Charge."
4. Bill S. Preston Esquire and Ted "Theodore" Logan ("And we are Wyld Stallyns!!") were residents of San Dimas, California. Dude.
5. Napolean, Genghis Khan, Socrates, and Joan of Arc.
6. Studious one = Sara; pretty one = Jaime; geeky brother = Adam
So do I win the all expense paid trip to Target or what?

1980s Brain Teasers
So Nick, T-lam, and I made a late night trip (if you want to consider 9:30 late) to the Tanforan target on friday night. Dang, I must love target since I had just went to the Serramonte one 3.5 hours earlier with Taft! Can't beat getting the Beatles Greatest Hits (all 27 of them) for $9.99. (Long story short...Taft was helping me make cd's - yes, some people still have discmans! - all afternoon. We were gonna burn tiff's beatles greatest hits cd but we ran out of time. So, lo and behold, target had it on sale and i bought it instead.) Don't you love x-mas sales! Actually I take that back...it's like target has x-mas sales all year long.
Well, we 3 (nick, t-lam, and I) came across the 1980s board game which has inspired me to come up with one of my own. I know this 80s stuff can all be played out...but I don't think we can ever get sick of the most memorable decade of our young (but not getting any younger) lives.
Taking you back to the old school. I need y'alls help with the following items...i'm kinda stuck. Please try to answer them without any outside help.
First one to answer all of the questions correctly gets the privilege of escorting me to target the next time I go. As tempting as that may be to y'all, just remember ONLY 1 of you can win. Please let others know since I know they would love to go with me (oh wait, y'all devoted ones to this site might not want the extra competition). Just remember...First Come (up with the right answers), First Served!
NOTE: Please submit answers ONLY AFTER 9am monday (Dec. 20) b/c that's the time I wake up during my vacation. And don't be changing the time on the bottom either!
Here we go...and we're off!
1. Where have we heard this from?
There were times when I lost a dream or two.
Found the trail, and at the end was you.
There’s a path you take and a path untaken.
The choice is up to you my friend.
2. Who are the "two" that this song is referring to?
Now, the world don't move to the beat of just one drum,
What might be right for you, may not be right for some.
A man is born, he's a man of means.
Then along come two, they got nothing but their jeans.
3. Who is this "new boy" and what was his best friend's name?
New boy in the neighborhood
Lives downstairs and it is understood.
He’s there just to take good care of me,
Like he’s one of the family.
4. Bill and Ted lived in what California town/city before they embarked on their excellent adventure?
5. Name 4 historical figures that Bill and Ted picked up on their excellent adventure.
6. Charles was in charge of three kids...what were their names - in order, who was the studious one, who was the pretty one, who was the geeky brother? List their character names (like any of you would remember their real names!).
That concludes the first quiz...more to come! I hope someone turns out to be like ken jennings and is unstoppable! who wants to be ken and start the streak?
Good luck and have fun,
Jefe

13 minutes, 22 seconds
This page has gotten no love for the longest time...unbelievable! I might as well end the dry spell right now.
I was given a homework assignment and was asked to post it on this page. So Taft and Nick, here is my research paper. Sorry, it's two days overdue but I'm not exactly sure how eager you guys were to have it turned it on time. And you thought I wouldn't do it.
13 minutes and 22 seconds. What significance does that have? Many would feel like that is a meaningless piece of time, but it is a time that will stick with me forever. Not only did it cap off an improbable prediction, but it also marked a time where a connection was made.
Let's rewind. The Scene: USF's War Memorial Gym this past friday December 10. The night started off with Taft and me attending the UC Davis vs. St. Joe's game. Taft and I had to support our alma mater and our beloved Aggies. Unfortunanely, the Ags got blitz in the second half and got blown out. Nick and T-lam decide to join us for the 2nd game being that it was Nick's USF Dons vs. Longwood University (Farmville, VA). This is where it gets very interesting.
Little-known Longwood was clearly overmatched even in warm-ups. As Nick pointed out to me, longwood was only making 50% of their lay-ups in warm-ups. And when you are only making half your lay-ups before the game starts, then you're in for a long night. So of course Nick and I were blurting out predictions as to what the halftime score was gonna be. The game starts off with USF going on a major run and Longwood in a major drought. With a little under 16 minutes left in the first half, Nick decides to ask me when I thought Longwood would score again being that they were turning the ball over left and right and missing all their shots. I think about it, and lo and behold, 13:22 comes to my head!
Fast forward to 13:45. Longwood still hasn't hit a shot and the Dons have just grabbed a rebound. I'm like oh no! The Dons are up by so much and now they're deciding to go into their halfcourt offense. My eyes are on the clock...13:45...13:40...13:35...13:30. And then it happens, Longwood gets a steal and dribbles the ball up frantically. Tick Tick Tick. I got one eye on the clock and one eye on the floor. They pass the ball into their big guy (emphasis on big) and with his back to the basket he pulls off a drop step with 13:23. He turns around and makes a layup at yes, 13:22! Unbelievable! The twoTiffs, Nick, and I could only laugh.
And the big guy's name who made the shot? Leland Beale. He's one of those guys who looks like he does not belong on the b-ball floor. He chugs down the court but has great stamina. I had to root for him the rest of the night. He ends up leading his team in scoring with 11 points in a 30+ point blowout.
Leland Beale #44
Forward
6-8 250
Sophomore
Poquoson, Va. / Oak Ridge (N.C.) Military Academy
Beale, a 6'8" 250 pound forward-center from Piquosan, VA was better known for his football skills. However, he decided to attend Longwood's b-ball program, which is in a 4 year transition period from D-II to D-I, much like UC Davis. An excerpt from his head coach, Mike Gillian, in their media guide best describes this athlete.
“Leland is a big guy who has very good basketball skills and is a fine athlete for his size,” explained Gillian. “He has made tremendous strides physically and in adjusting to the college game over the course of the last year.”
Unfortunately, his bio is not updated/posted. But in doing my research, I came across a web page for Bob Gibbons, a well known journalist who has an eye for high school b-ball talent. In 2002, Gibbons ranked Beale a "Super Sleeper" at the power forward position. And a guy that big must sleep very well.
In what was not much a of b-ball game, there is great solace rooting for the underdog. Pulling for players who is giving his all (as well as shedding pounds at the same time). You can't beat that.
And ironically, how many minutes did Beale play that night? 13 minutes and 22 seconds.

Phil's Blog
Hey All,
It's Phil and I just wanted to say howdy to all of you who I haven't seen/chatted in awhile..In case you were wondering, Mr. Madison (we have amended his name to Mr, for gender-identification purposes) just graduated Puppy 2..... We're pretty good at him sit, down, stay, shake and to touch... but we're still working on loose-leash walking and heeling... there is one more class.. but we're going to wait until he gets better at walking w/o pulling... I never thought that this dog would be like seriously having a child... Wow..I feel like I grew up real fast with this dog... especially...
So it's getting close to being 1 year since my dad passed... this was my mom, sis, and I first father's day w/o my dad... it's really weird.... I feel like it was so long ago but at the same time I can relive every moment the last couple weeks before he died... I sometimes get bothered by it but I believe everything happens for a reason...and I think my dad had a great life, though it was cut short... I will be glad when we past the 1 year b/c I think it'll help me and my mom and sis move on... I think we've all been able to cope in our own ways...the one thing that I think came out of all the pain and suffering is that now I don't have to hide being "me" around my mom and sis in South City.. Ariel now comes over and my mom even says hi to him.... they are now speaking and she even asks him to help her sometimes... only if that could have happened with my dad still here... *sighs*....
but it's time to move on...
Coincidentally, Big Brother and Amazing Race debut the same day as my dad's 1 year... how ironic.. how 2 things that I look most forward to, are happening the day that I most dread out of any day of the year.... but you know perhaps it was God's way of counterbalancing the sadness with some happiness.. cuz we all know that reality shows make Phil happy =)
Ok I better go now.. sorry to be so serious, but I felt that I just needed to share =)
Hope to hear/see all of you soon.

Time to shake the dust off this here blog. Hellooooo, is this thing on??
{{insert crickets chirping. chrip chirp.}}
Is anyone, anyone, out there, there.......
{{insert echoing voice and a lone haystack rolling in the wind}}
Glad to see Phil and Reeg's efforts in trying to resuscitate (sp??) this thing.
Out of curiosity (and boredom) I decided to go through the archives to see what we were all up to exactly one year ago (can you believe this blog will be 2 years old come may?). I like that the archives can be viewed so easily. It's like a time warp reading those old blogs. Last year around this time, the college bball games were going on of course, I just finished the last of my classes in davis, ed blogged of his puppy adventures, and regan told an "explicit" tale involving him, jeff, and bertha (a must read).
anyhow, that's all i really wanted to say. read those archives. i'm gonna send out an evite in late may inviting everyone to pay our blog a visit and wish it a happy birthday.
lates,

TOP 10 THINGS PHIL WILL BE WATCHING THIS WEEK
Now that reality TV is in FULL SWING, these are my top 10 shows to be watching (note: some are not reality shows but are worthy enough to be in my top 10 list). Happy New Year Everyone.
10. Real World: San Diego (tuesday 10pm on MTV) - The location sucks, so they must chosen drama people to make up for it... So far they have a big boob girl, a boataphobia girl, and a black guy who's sensitive that no one seems to focus their attention on him... this week supposedly girls kiss girls , and this guys shows his penis
9. Charmed (sunday 8 or 9pm) - Can't get enough of the awesome three... I still want Shannon Doherty to be back on the show, but Rose McGowan has done a pretty good job as a substitue
8. The Gaunlet Finale (Monday 10pm) : Finally we will see if Coral or Sarah's lame ass will cause their respective teams to lose.
7 Bachelorette (wednesday 9-10): Oh Meredith, who will you choose, can you please pick the black guy or the hockey player or the slipper guys, those were all good choices.. I could care less for the rest of them...
6 Days of Our Lives (Weekdays 3-4 NBC) yes, I tape this show everyday now, I love this salem stalker thing... it's like a who-dun-it...
5 America's Top Model (Tuesdsay 9-10 UPN): OOOH Season 2 has just started, everyone start watching it!!
4 The Apprentice: (wednesday 8-9) You're fired!! I think I just watch the show to hear those two words, I use to like Odessa (whatever her name is, but she's is too pretentious)
3 Celeberity Mole: (wednesday 10-11) Rudy is the mole. It's way too obvious... anyone disagree, share with me your theories. Also, this is too late of a timeslot for this awesome show to get any ratings
2 Survivor All-Stars: (thursday, 1st episode Feb 1 after the superbowl) Can't wait to see who creates the newest alliance..My favorites to win: Jenna (1st survivor, Alicia, Colby)
1 American Idol: 3 episodes this week (Jan 19,20,21), I can't handle it!! .. I can't wait to see who makes it.. oooh whoa whoa.....
